For Guinea Pigs:
For the Humans:
Books & Calendars
Unlimited, good quality hay should be available to your guinea pigs at all times, with fresh veggies and a moderate amount of vitamin-C enriched pellets being part of a well-rounded diet. We offer hay from Oxbow, American Pet Diner, Kaytee, Standlee Hay and Small Pet Select -- all of which we have used, or currently use, with our own herd.
As a rule, the best hay for adult guinea pigs is timothy hay. Younger pigs or pregnant guinea pigs can benefit from alfalfa, and we occasionally offer it to our senior guinea pigs as well. To add variety to your guinea pig's diet, you can add other hays such as oat hay, botanical hay or orchard grass.
We do not sell treats on TLPM, because most commercial treats contain salt, sugars, nuts and seeds or other ingredients that can be fattening or, in the case of seeds, a potential choking hazard. The best 'treats' can be something as simple as an extra bit of carrot or a very small amount of fruit -- or even a different type of hay. Our guys all love the Harvest Stacks by Oxbow (which we offer below on page 2), and think they are a terrific 'treat'!
