Midwest Guinea Pig Habitat
The majority of commercial guinea pig cages are far too small to accommodate a single pig, not to mention a pair of same-sex cavies or a small same-sex herd. One way to provide ample space for your guinea pig, is to build your own habitat. See www.guineapigcages.com for details on how to make your own "cube and coroplast" (C&C) cage. Also see the Guinea Lynx section on housing for additional information on creating a safe, spacious habitat for your cavies.
As an alternative, MidwestHomes4Pets now manufactures its own version of the C&C: the "Guinea Pig Habitat." TLPM is happy to offer the Guinea Pig Habitat through Amazon.com at a really great price and free shipping for orders over $35. We own and use this cage, and although we still prefer C&C's for ease of configuration, we have found this to be another good option and a HUGE improvement over pet store cages.
